Day Tours and Guides

In Montréal, from May through October, Bateau-Mouche runs four harbor excursions and an evening supper cruise daily. The boats are reminiscent of the ones that cruise the canals of the Netherlands—wide-beamed and low-slung, with a glassed-in passenger deck. Boats leave from the Jacques Cartier Pier at the foot of Place Jacques-Cartier in the Vieux-Port.

Gray Line has nine different types of tours of Montréal from June through October and one tour the rest of the year. There are also day trips to Mont Tremblant and Québec City. The company offers pickup service at the major hotels and at Info-Touriste (1001 sq. Dorchester).

In Québec City, Autocar Dupont/Old Québec Tours runs bus tours of the city, departing across the square from the Hôtel Château Laurier (1230 pl. Georges V); you can buy tickets at most major hotels. The company runs guided tours in a minibus as well as tours of Côte-de-Beaupré and Île d'Orléans, and whale-watching excursions to Charlevoix. Tours run year-round and cost C$35–C$125. Call for a reservation and the company will pick you up at your hotel.

Croisières AML has day and evening cruises, some of which include dinner, on the St. Lawrence River aboard the MV Louis-Jolliet. The 1½- to 4-hour cruises run from May through mid-October and start at C$35 plus tax.
